Being a social responsible company represents for us the ambition to actively contribute to the development and well-being of our employees and society (people), to ensure a healthy environment (planet), while creating sustainable profitable growth (profit). We strongly believe growth and sustainability go hand in hand.
Our priorities:
Health, Quality and Safety
Environmental impact
Development
Social responsibility
Health, Quality and Safety
Safety is at the heart of everything we do, driven by our leadership and applied through our operating management system. Our safety and risk management approach is built on experience, operations audits, annual risk reviews and from industry practice of sharing experience. We strive to be compliant to all applicable health, safety and environmental laws.
Our international companies are known for being safe companies with low accident figures. We consult others actively about safe, healthy and environmentally-aware working methods and our customers appreciate this. Such a reputation can only be established if the core concepts Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) are understood and applied internationally and from top to bottom throughout the organisation. We devote a lot of attention to training and educating our employees and have a well-implemented management information system. HSE meetings take place at company level where we discuss plans and the progress of these plans.
Please see our HSE policy and Quality policy for more information.
Health
DGI strives to make a positive contribution to the health of its people. We offer sports subscriptions, preventive medical examinations and the possibility to visit a company doctor. On starting work, new employees receive extensive information about DGI, HSE and health.
Quality and safety
The QA / HSE department supports DGI businesses in maintaining modern international standards in terms of quality and safety: ISO9001, ISO14001 (Doedijns Controls B.V.), ISO14001 (Doedijns Hydraulics B.V.) and SCC (VCA).
Education about HSE is an important tool to manage risks in the workplace. Training and coaching has our highest priority. Since legislation and regulations differ per country, it is organised per country.
DGI employees adhere to a strict safety policy. Each employee is trained on safety and is able to access safety manuals and requirements on a server.
Environmental impact
DGI is aware of the environmental impact of its activities. The challenge we undertake is to responsibly manage and reduce this impact. We try to limit, control and recycle waste as much as possible.
We try to raise environmental awareness among our customers and suppliers by asking them to consciously deal with waste and try to get them involved in reducing their environmental impact. Via our delivery notes and packaging customers are pointed at the importance of reuse of packaging and recycling of materials at the end of the lifetime of a product.
DGI member Doedijns started implementation of the international environmental standard ISO14001 for further improvement of proper care for the environment. The Doedijns’ business units Hydraulics and Controls received the ISO14001 certificate in January 2014.
Development
Employee knowledge, expertise and engagement are crucial to realise our ambitions. We encourage personal development. Training, new knowledge, skills and insights not only improve the way our people do their job, but also enable opportunities for personal growth.
We aim to use our technological expertise to benefit society. Investing in educating children and young people who will contribute to the future society is part of our agenda. We have set up several partnerships with educational institutions as training company and offer internships.
Social responsibility
The market requires that we act with integrity, comply with local laws and legislations and live up to our values and principles. Our ethics policy clearly states how we conduct business. We ask our partners and suppliers to live up to the same ethical standards. Please click here for our Ethics Policy.
Responsibility is one of our four values, embedding the behaviours and culture that guide us to act in a certain way. Additionally, our Ethics policy clarifies the basic rules our people must follow including expectations for operating safely, responsibly and reliably. Our leaders reinforce the message that it is not just ‘what’ we do, but ‘how’ we do it that is important.
DGI is aware of its privileged position in society. We look for opportunities for projects to improve society in those areas that need us most and actively contribute to the wellbeing of its inhabitants. We create opportunities within our company for the disadvantaged and sponsor local initiatives in the surroundings of our offices.
Conflict Minerals
We support ending the violence and human rights violations in the mining of certain minerals from a location described as the “Conflict Region”, which is situated in the eastern portion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and surrounding countries. As a result the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) adopted final rules to implement reporting and disclosure requirements related to “conflict minerals,” as directed by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.
We support the aims and objectives of the U.S. legislation on the supply of “conflict minerals” and do not knowingly procure specified metals that originate from facilities in the “Conflict Region” that are not certified as “conflict free”. We have asked our suppliers to undertake reasonable due diligence with their supply chains to assure their components and products supplied to Doedijns Group International or any of its subsidiaries originate from outside the “Conflict Region”.
Our aim is to ensure that only “conflict free” materials and components are used in products that we procure. Please click here to download our HSE Progress Report, where “conflict minerals” is one of the subjects mentioned.
